While academicians are known to keep their work hidden in the clutter of their work stations, TechConnect aims at showcasing this research. TechConnect is a part of the annual technology festival of the Indian Institute of Technology – Bombay (IIT-B) Techfest, which will be held from January 7 to 9. To bridge the industry-academia divide, TechConnect will display 40 projects from faculty members from January.

This is the second time Techfest will showcase the work of the faculty. Last time three faculty projects were picked up by the industry at the festival for further research and development. The three products were: radiation shields for humans, bio-diesel plant and sensor platforms for explosive vapour detection.

“Apart from acting as a platform to showcase the diversity of research and development (R&D) activities at IIT-B it also aims to motivate young minds to take up a career in research.” said Ronnie Philip, coordinator, Techfest.

The exhibits will be from across departments and fields such as healthcare, energy, defence, wireless communication, information technology and material sciences. The exhibition is also open for the general public and students. Apart from simulations and working prototypes, even lab visits will be organised.
