SBI to sponsor an IIT-K ‘chair’

KANPUR: The State Bank of India, as a part of its corporate social responsibility, has come forward to support the Indian Institute of Technology- Kanpur (IIT-K) through the sponsorship of a ‘Chair’ that shall be offered by IIT-K to the faculty member for outstanding work with special emphasis on innovations in the field of solar energy.

The fund shall be invested by way of ‘Term deposit’ of Rs 50 lakh and the periodical interest from the fund will be utilised to serve the honorarium to the selected professor.

An MOU to this effect has been signed between State Bank of India and IIT-K through IIT-K director SG Dhande and SBI CGM (Lucknow circle) BV Chaubal.

The event was attended by SBI GM-2 HN Dass, DGM of SBI RT Sachdeva, DGM Pradeep Mehrotra and AGM Rohit Kumar. Deputy director of IIT RK Thareja, SK Agarwal and Sanjay Mittal were also present on the occasion.
